OUR PROJECTS
Engineering World Health is excited to continue working on our projects from previous semesters, as well as take on new ones. Look for details below!
Currently, we are working to create a pipeline that sources wheelchairs to disabled people in the communities surrounding Kampala, Uganda. We are partnered with Makerere University to assess their populations' needs and deliver devices accordingly. Many of the wheelchairs in Uganda are abysmal -- they often do not have a braking system, adequate seating, or are missing crucial parts. We have been working with this university for the past few years, and while the objective has changed, we want to see this project to fruition.

We are in contact with Project C.U.R.E, an organization that sources and delivers life-saving medical supplies and equipment to venerable communities throughout the world. Along with the the Institute for Biomedical Devices here at UMD, we are coordinating workshops to repair broken devices that they receive so that they can be cleared to send out. The focus of this project area would most likely be the repair of devices, as well as mechanical and electrical design.
